luke vlog

mission impossible → mission unstoppable

Dr. Luke had carried out a careful investigation of what Jesus said and of what he did. He wrote it all down for his young friend, Theo, so he could be sure of what had happened. You can read this in the Bible in the book of Luke.

Then Luke wrote down for Theo what happened next, after Jesus had gone back to heaven. He was around at the time and saw much of it himself. You can read this too in the Bible, in the book of Acts.

What a lot of people don’t know is that Dr. Luke was an early pioneer of the art of vlogging, that is making a weblog using video.

In these recently discovered vlogs, Luke retells for Theo the main parts of the story he wrote down in Acts – about God’s plan to take the message of Jesus to the whole world but using the most unlikely bunch of people. A mission that at best seemed improbable and at worst impossible, soon becomes mission unstoppable.

luke vlog I  -  in which Luke tells Theo that Jesus’ mission is to take the message of who he is and what he has done to the whole world. Jesus chooses the most unsuitable people to do it, his disciples.

You can read about this in Acts 1:1-14

A big thank you to Susan MacLeod, Susie Arnold and Caroline Mitchell Wise, of Worcester Cathedral for letting Dr. Luke record this vlog in the crypt.

luke vlog II  -  Luke tells Theo how Jesus gave his disciples the power to be his messengers. Many people in Jerusalem turn to God and put their trust in him.

Read about this in Acts 2

luke vlog III  -  evil men are plotting against the disciples. But God uses even this to spread the story of Jesus abroad.

You can read this in Acts 6 to 8:8

luke vlog IV  -  but how was God going to get the message of Jesus to the ends of the Earth? He does this using just two things – the Bible and people.

Read this in Acts 8:26-40

luke vlog V  -  Luke is shipwrecked with his friend Paul on their way to Rome. Paul is a prisoner going to stand trial there. But this does not stop him telling people about Jesus. God wants all people everywhere to be his friends and part of his family. This is possible because of what Jesus has done.

You can read about this in Acts 21  -  28

A huge thank you to Alice Benbow and Andrew Davies of the Barber Institute of Fine Art who let Dr. Luke record this vlog in front of the beautiful golden door by their Roman and Persian coin exhibition.
